We look back

The year hasn’t even reached a close yet and already we are busily preparing for 2019 and the new projects it brings. We thought it a fitting moment to reflect on the past six months.

07 July

36 degrees and getting hotter

What a summer. The second hottest summer of the century reached Dresden too, and we made the most of it, by savouring every ray of sunshine to the fullest. And there was a lot to take in, with an estimated 770 hours of sunshine. It was no surprise when the German Weather Service announced that April through July of this year were the hottest and driest on record.

While a part of the team remained in Dresden during the summer and enjoyed the dream weather on the Elbe or in Dresden’s sunny parks, others spent the month on vacation. On the itinerary were the Italian east coast and Slovenia. Highlights in Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, included visits to the two museums of modern and contemporary art. The Museum of Modern Art features modern works from 1900 through June 1991, when Slovenia became independent. In contrast, the building constructed in 2011 with a modern concrete façade showcases art of today. Such visits are a great inspiration to our design ideas at HOLY TRINITY®.

10 October

The prize that makes success visible

We have already mentioned it a few times, but we have to say it once more: in October, we opened a letter informing us that our RIMA was chosen by a renowned jury as the recipient of the German Design Award – one of the most prestigious awards in the design industry. In February, we’ll be on our way to Frankfurt to receive the award in person at the award ceremony.

12 December

Christmas cheer

At the beginning of December we went to Oldenburg for one of the most exciting events of the year – the staff Christmas party of the Deutsche Lichtmiete®. Immediately upon arrival two large buses brought us to the site of the Deutsche Lichtmiete’s new production hall, which is currently under construction. The tour of the construction site was followed by a small mulled wine reception, during which the latest developments were shared before moving on to the actual venue. We’ve got to keep a few secrets, but we will say, we can think of no better way to have kicked off the Christmas season. Despite the rainy weather that’s made Dresden a bit of a bleak sight in the last few days, we haven’t let it dampen our joyful Christmas spirit. Speaking of secrets, we’ve prepared a little Christmas surprise, which we reveal on Facebook every Sunday in Advent.

And what’s next?

Before leaving on a well-deserved Christmas holiday, we want to give you a little taste of the coming year; an appetizer, so to speak.

In order to expand sales into the B2B area, we will be traveling, starting in January 2019, to the largest architecture and design trade fairs in Europe. It starts here at home at the room + style trade fair in Dresden, before we head off to Cologne in mid-January for imm Cologne. In February, the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, which takes place during the Stockholm Design Week in the Swedish capital, awaits us. From Stockholm we’ll fly straight to Frankfurt for the award ceremony of the German Design Award and, once there, make a small detour to the Ambiente trade fair. Sounds pretty exciting, right? And this is just the beginning!  On our list are other major trade fairs in Salzburg, Vienna, Milan and Paris. We’ll certainly have a lot to report in the upcoming year.

Finally, we are also working diligently on new content for our social media channels, pondering and planning which topics will play a role on the blog next year. We don’t want to give too much away, but you’ve got something to look forward to in any case.
